Documentation in preschool
Via a pedagogical documentation we have the opportunity to see the child again and again. We think, listen and question in a common reflection about what we see and hear.
We visualize our theories and hypotheses question them and create new ones. Through the documentation we make ourselves visible to ourselves. At the same time, we use documentation to make the child visible to himself.
We also make the children visible to the parents and others.
In this way, we make ourselves and our common culture at the preschool visible.
The child becomes a subject for us adults when we let the child have responsibility and power over their own thoughts and the reality that they can influence.
Pedagogical documentation as a work tool works both as a basis for further education, work development, parental cooperation and evaluation. What the documentation can do is to continuously provide us with information about, What attitude do we have for children, colleagues, learning or the children's family?
What am I for educator in this work with the children?
Where am I / We right now?
At the same time, the documentation provides answers to what children can, how children think and how they learn.
This means that even the pedagogue is given the knowledge to enter a learning process.
The most important task of the documentation is to visualize the children as rich, competent and active knowledge-creating subjects, as well as the starting point for children's continued exploration and knowledge creation.
The documentary we present in the form of exhibitions are clearly visible to the children, parents and other visitors. The individual child understands that we value and respect his attempts to learn and understand more of himself and his world when the child's thoughts and actions are so carefully taken and continually putting new traces on the walls. We do it in a clear, informative and aesthetic way, so that the children share their own learning process and their comrades.
Documentation in the environment creates common memories that children can return to.
It creates a community and pride in what we together achieve.
Parents get an opportunity to follow what the children do at our preschool. They are given the opportunity to discover new pages with their child.
Each child has his own photo album as we insert cards from their everyday at preschool. The album will bring them on the day they end on Gläntan.
The children also have a "My Book" where we put in my own story (a story about the child the parents write when they start with us). We provide training documentation, a selection of documentation, projects, maps we have taken during the year, drawings and paintings, etc.
Even this brings the children when they end up as a memory from the years at Gläntan.
